Very pleasantly surprised! I had walked past this place a few times and I wasn't sure why I was so hesitant to try it but my parents were visiting, it was snowing so we didn't want to venture far, and craving Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food.
We ended up ordering take out.
Hummus, Baba ganoush, Fava Beans, Kefta kebab, Lamb Shank, and Falafel Balls for dinner, and we were very happy with what we ate! The only thing that I would say I didn't love were the pita breads, but I know that's being super picky.
Plus the man who runs it is really sweet. Seems it's him and his wife in the back.
Hesitation gone! I'll definitely be eating here again. -

Amazing food - we ordered the Lamb Shank and Shwarma. Shank was juicy and tender; Shwarma was fresh and light. Hummus was smooth and flavorful. Tried various Mediterranean restaurants in the Wash Park and University area, Mecca going to the top of my list now!!

We visited here on a Saturday afternoon and were waited on by the owner. We ordered the beef shawarma and chicken shawarma sandwich. The beef shawarma came with a salad, hummus and pita and rice. Service was friendly food was authentic and great! Lunch for two was $20. Cant beat that! If you live in the neighborhood give this place a try. This family seems to work very hard.

Ordered here first time I was craving Mediterranean food. To my surprise and disgust there was almost enough hair between my wife and I's food to make a wig.... what we did eat before for the mouthful of hair was not very god either. Needless to say we won't be coming back

I have been to most of the middle eastern restaurants in the Denver area and Mecca is at the top of the list (tied with Damascus Grill and arabesque in Boulder). I won't even step into Phoenician kebab ever again (and don't get me started on Bylobos- woof.)
Mecca Grill is an unassuming little spot with a lot of charm. It's a one man show and everything is cooked to order so expect fresh! The baba ganouj has some texture to it- just how I like it. My go to order is vegetarian sampler and chicken shwarma plate. Chicken is super moist and the garlic dip it comes with is packed with flavor and the falafel is light and not over fried.
Kitschy and charming in the best way, with amazing food, Mecca is a hidden gem in Denver. Service isn't the fastest, but its friendly and the food is worth the wait.
